Two Huge Reasons a WOOX 10/22 Stock Is a Bigger Upgrade Than You Think

WOOX stocks are well known for their expandability, adjustability, and for the fact that they are hybrid stocks, made with a combination of anodized aluminum and select hardwoods like walnut and tiger wood that are aesthetically pleasing.

They’re compatible with many popular rifle platforms like the Remington 700, Savage 110, and Howa 1500, among others.

There are also WOOX stocks compatible with popular rimfire rifles like the Ruger 10/22, but don’t let the high price relative to the cost of the gun fool you. These represent substantial upgrades not just to aesthetics but performance. Here are two significant reasons a WOOX 10/22 stock like the Cobra represents a bigger upgrade than you think.

It’s Not Solid Hardwood

Some Ruger 10/22 variants come with solid hardwood stocks. While wood stocks are beautiful, and strong, they are not without their drawbacks.

Notably, when the atmospheric humidity or temperature shifts (and these are conditions that constantly do) the wood stock can swell and warp in response.

The problem here is that, no matter how a barrel is bedded, if the dimensions of the stock shift, that will impart undue forces on the action or the barrel or both, which will throw off your zero.

This means that solid wood stocks, for all their positive attributes, uphold an inherently lower degree of accuracy than their alloy and polymer counterparts.

In this case, a WOOX 10/22 stock will be a hybrid stock, made of a combination of anodized aluminum and hardwood accents. Because the critical components are made of aluminum, which will not change in response to shifting atmospheric humidity, a WOOX stock will uphold a higher degree of accuracy.

But there is another factor to consider here, and it is that wood is also prone to other issues not related to accuracy. Notably, wood is subject to issues of wet and dry rot, which alloy and polymers are not.

Once again in this case, since the critical components are made of aluminum, these stocks will not suffer these issues.

It’s Highly Adjustable and Will Have Expanded Attachment Points

In addition to the fact that a WOOX 10/22 stock will uphold a higher degree of accuracy than a hardwood factory stock, it will also deliver a higher degree of adjustability and offer numerous attachment points.

Consider a WOOX 10/22 stock such as the Cobra, which offers easily adjustable comb height so that the stock will afford a better fit to the shooter, and others, which are also adjustable for length of pull.

These WOOX 10/22 stocks also offer a multiplicity of attachment points, above and beyond mounts for slings, which would also be present on factory stocks.

In this case, these stocks offer Picatinny rail sections under the stock, as well as M-LOK slots along the forend.

Like other WOOX stocks, these stocks offer shooters considerably expandability with respect to adding shooting attachments and accessories that will uphold a more shooter-friendly experience overall.

All in all, these WOOX stocks offer a great deal of versatility beyond what factory stocks can deliver.

How a Convection Heater Protects Your Tiny Home From Carbon Monoxide This Winter

Tiny homes don’t forgive heating mistakes. A well-sealed, 200-square-foot space keeps warmth in, but it traps fumes and exhaust just as effectively. Carbon monoxide builds up in small, airtight spaces faster than most people realize, and combustion-based heaters, the gas and propane kind, are the primary cause. Electric room heaters exist in a fundamentally different […]
