Our Thoughts On Madd Gear Scooters For Kids

Back in the 90s and 2000s many of us were caught in a skateboarding and scooter fever. We craved the speed and freedom our decks offered, and the raw feeling of hitting the pavement with a hard set of wheels was something we longed for all day long.

Today, scooters are making a solid comeback. To be fair, they never really went away. However, today we have seen an explosion in popularity and quality, making this the best time to own a scooter ever. These amazingly versatile vehicles are almost like hoverboards, thanks to their two wheels and self-balancing nature. They’re easier for kids to learn on, too. And they enjoy the fun of scootering without having to worry about their safety as much.

But you, as a parent, might be perplexed when it comes to picking out the right scooter for your child. There are several options out there today, but not every kind is best suited for every kid. Last weekend we went out to try some scooters with the kids. We got onto a pair of Madd Gear Renegade Pro scooters and took them for a ride. We were amazed at the quality of their build and how smooth they felt, even on rough terrain. We were eager to find out how the scooters hold up in a long-term test and decided that we couldn’t think of a better kid to put them through their paces than my own.

The first thing we noticed is that the handles provided enough space for our hands to adjust the grip as we rode. The rubber grip is a nice feature because it gives the kids a tighter grip and control of their turns while learning.

One of the elements that get worn out pretty fast on many scooters is the grip tape on the deck. These Madd Gear scooters have a wide deck with a very resistant and grippy tape that allowed me to land most of my tricks and, at the time of writing this article, it has held up excellently given the abuse it has endured.

I was surprised by the quality of the wheels and bearings. Coming from a skateboarding background I instantly noticed how smooth and fast these things are, and knew they would last a long time too.

What about the parents? Well, giving our kids their own set of wheels and watching them go up and down a hill while you just watch them from a safe distance is not exactly the definition of having quality time. I love the fact that Madd Gear Scooters introduced many options for young adults and grown-ups.

We put together a scooter using the Juzzy Carter deck and the RWilly bar, all held together by the X3 Cobra Clamp. The final product is very compact and feels solid. The handlebar might be a bit short if you´re a big guy, but I find it very comfy and gave me improved control which was to be expected for a precision trick scooter.

These two models convinced me to dig a lot deeper into Madd Gear Scooters and their top-tier rides. If you want to know more about these amazing rides, head to Kryptic Pro Scooters and find the perfect scooter for you and your kids.
