About the Fujikura Ventus Red, Blue, and Black Ratings

All Fujikura Ventus shafts are made with full-length Pitch 40 high-modulus and Pitch 70-ton ultra high-modulus carbon fiber, with maximum fiber content that improves strength and enhances loading and feel.

All Ventus shafts are also made with Fujikura’s VeloCore technology, which is a proprietary multi-material bias core that delivers impressive stability through transition and impact.

And, all Ventus shafts offer exceptional stability, energy transfer, and MOI, for longer, straight, flatter drives, even on mishits. They are also all 46” long.

But not all Ventus shafts are alike. In fact, they are subdivided up into three separate lines according to “color.”

If you’re thinking about picking one out for yourself (or for another special golfer in your life) here’s what you need to know.

Fujikura Ventus Red: Medium Spin, Mid to High Launch Profiles
The Fujikura Ventus Red is available in 5 flex ratings from regular to tour-spec extra stiff. All of the Red shafts feature a low to medium kick point. Torque varies from 3.0 to 3.9.

It’s unlikely that players with faster swing speeds and tempos won’t appreciate the Ventus Red. In fact, it will probably suit their needs just fine. It just might be a bit more forgiving than they need.

Also, since it produces medium spin and mid-to-high-launch profiles, that might get a little frustrating for golfers with faster swing speeds that don’t need the launch boost.

Consequently, if you have a faster swing speed, 90 MPH or above, then a shaft from the Blue or Black line might be better for you.

Save the Red for players with slower swing speeds and tempos. It’s optimized to deliver longer drives and to control shot dispersion for players with slower swing speeds that need the extra forgiveness.

Fujikura Ventus Blue: Low Spin, Mid Launch
The Fujikura Ventus Blue line is also available in 5 shaft flex ratings from regular to tour-spec extra stiff. With the exception of the Blue 5, all Ventus Blue shafts produce low spin, medium launch profiles, and have medium kickpoints. Torque varies from 2.8 to 4.0.

Just like the Red, it’s likely that players with faster swing speeds and tempos will appreciate the Fujikura Ventus Blue line. It offers good feedback and doesn’t feel whippy when swinging it.

If you’ve played with extra flexible shafts in the past and don’t like the whippiness, but you’ve been frustrated by the brick-like stiffness of ultra-stiff shafts, a middle of the road shaft like the Ventus Blue might be for you.

Like the Red, it’s optimized to deliver long, straight drives and to control shot dispersion, but since it delivers lower launch and spin profiles, it’s better for players with slightly faster swing speeds.

Fujikura Ventus Black: Low Spin, Low Launch
The Black line is only available in 3 shaft flex ratings, stiff, extra stiff, and tour-spec extra stiff. Except the Black 5, they all produce low launch, low spin profiles. All have high kick points and torque varies from 2.8 to 3.4.

The Fujikura Ventus Black line offers the lowest sping, lowest launch profiles of them all. These shafts are optimized for players with the fastest swing speeds, over 100 MPH. Some will tell you they should be reserved for players with swing speeds in excess of 110 MPH.

However, the Fujikura Ventus Black line still has the same features that make the Red and Blue shafts more forgiving. It’s just not a shaft you should swing unless you have the swing speed to match it.
