About FUBUKI Mitsubishi Shafts: A Consistent Performer with Solid History

`

A lot of releases regarding Mitsubishi shafts will probably be devoted to the breakthroughs in technology that have graced their next-generation Diamana shafts, made with boron fiber, or the metal-mesh technology (MMT) that makes selects shafts thinner and stronger.

This short post is going to highlight an entry into the catalog of Mitsubishi shafts, that, while it may not be new, is responsible for multiple worldwide victories and is a consistent performer on the course: the Mitsubishi FUBUKI series – specifically, the V-series.

The Fubuki V-series of Mitsubishi shafts are available in configurations ranging from 47g to 76g. They’re available in a range of shaft flexes from LITE to X (extra-stiff), with torque ratings ranging from 3.7 to 7.4. All of them feature a mid-kick point. There’s enough variety in this line for a player of any preference.

Mitsubishi calls this line their “proving ground” line, and in it, MCA has pioneered a wide range of new technologies that improve strength, stability, energy transfer, and more.

While golfers of different needs and abilities can and do benefit from golf shafts of different stiffness ratings, variable stiffness is hardly a good thing. It heralds inconsistency in construction and that inconsistency will translate over to results on the course.

The FUBUKI V-series of Mitsubishi shafts features MCA’s I.S.T., otherwise known as Impact Stabilization Technology, which helps to keep a lid on variable stiffness, particularly in the lower third of the shaft.

This technology helps MCA exhibit greater tolerances during manufacturing that ensure greater consistency when a player takes the shaft in hand.

Controlling variable stiffness in the shaft helps prevent “lag” and “rebound” at and through the point of impact, giving the player greater control over the shaft – but more importantly, greater energy transfer on club head contact with the ball.

Shaft deformation – such as shaft ovaling – can weaken a golf shaft and eliminate effective energy transfer. The FUBUKI V-series has an ace in the hole to play on that matter, too.

The secret to effectiveness lies in Mitsubishi Chemical Company’s use of what they call a P.N.C., or a Power Ninja Core, which strengthens the carbon fibers in the shaft.

The P.N.C. contains a layer of ultra-thin steel webbing which is integrated into the core of the shaft. Though thin, the steel is extremely strong and acts as a truss – helping to control or entirely eliminate deformation across all axes.

Together, these proprietary features deliver a series of shafts that are stronger and more consistent through impact, delivering mid-launch profiles and low spin on the ball, which control shot dispersion and extend range.
