A Great Glock Upgrade: A New Glock Slide Kit

There are lots of Glock upgrades out there that offer plenty of value in their own right, but among the best of these are the Glock slide kits available right now on MCS Gearup.

Available in several configurations and calibers compatible with many popular Glock pistols, they can upgrade the performance of your handgun on several fronts. These are some of them.

Upgrade Your Glock Sights and Optics

Some of the Glock slide kits in question come with tritium night sights. These night sights can help enhance target acquisition in the dark while keeping you concealed. Moreover, tritium has a half life in excess of ten years and the sights will never need batteries.

Moreover, many of these Glock slide kits come with RMR cover plates that enable you to mount an RMR-pattern optic without the need for a trip to the gunsmith.

Install a Comp

Some of these Glock slide kits come with threaded barrels. While they don’t come with muzzle devices as part of the kit, this offers you a great deal of versatility.

One of the best upgrades you can make in the wake of this is a compensator. These muzzle devices alter how gases are ported at the muzzle, considerably counteracting felt recoil.

In some instances, a compensator can cut felt recoil by as much as 50% without adversely affecting shot power.

This benefits recoil-sensitive shooters and it can also help you execute faster, more accurate follow up shots.

Easier Maintenance

Your original Glock barrel won’t be that hard to take care of, but many of these Glock kits for upgrades come with nitrided barrels.

Nitride is extremely hard and corrosion resistant, which lowers the need for a higher frequency of cleaning. More importantly, however, is that nitride has very high permanent dry lubricity, which makes it easier to clean and keep clean because fouling doesn’t want to stick to it.

Lower Reciprocating Mass

Some of the Glock slide kits in question have cutout windows on the slides, which can substantially lower reciprocating mass.

Reciprocating mass – the mass that moves during firing – is one of the key drivers of felt recoil. Holding all else equal, including static mass and cartridge metrics, the higher the reciprocating mass, the more felt recoil will result.

Lightening these Glock slides by removing material lowers the mass, thereby lowering felt recoil, while simultaneously enhancing cycling, making it faster, crisper and snappier.

For what it’s worth, opening up these cutouts also potentially improves the barrel’s heat dissipation characteristics, helping to keep the barrel cooler, even during periods of intense, sustained fire.

More Opportunities for Personalization

Lastly, the Glock slides in question are available in a wide range of configurations, colors, and finishes, which in turn offers a ton of opportunities for personalization and customization. This makes them ideal for those that want to add a bit of color to their carry or competition handgun.

Glock Slide Kits, Parts and More

These are just a few of the many features that MCS Gearup’s new collection of Glock slide kits offer. There are many others besides these, with their own unique features that can boost the performance or handling of a given Glock model, ease the maintenance requirements, or expand the versatility of the platform.

In addition to Glock slide kits, the company sells a wide range of parts and built kits that are compatible with Glock pistols, offering more than one avenue to significantly enhance the performance of these pistol platforms.

4 Advantages of Aluminum Quadruplex Wire Over Copper Power Service Entry Cable

Ask someone to name a material from which electrical wires are made and almost 100% of the time they will say copper. Just like its use in plumbing, copper is ubiquitous in the world of electrical engineering. There is good reason for this. It is highly malleable and ductile, has reasonably high tensile strength, and […]

Why Over Charge and Deep Discharge Damage Lithium Batteries (and How a Battery Management System Helps Prevent This)

You’ve heard of the many virtues of home battery backup systems with advanced, modern lithium batteries, like LiFePO4 (or LFP) batteries. They are lighter, have higher energy density, last longer, provide more consistent output, and are easier to maintain, to name just a few. But they are still batteries, and batteries are complex electrical devices […]
