What Else to Get When You’re Looking at a CheyTac M200 for Sale

Interested in extreme long-range rifle shooting? There are few better platforms than the CheyTac M200 Intervention, capable of effectively engaging targets that are more than a mile away.

They’re extremely accurate and shoot cartridges loaded with solid-copper, CNC-machined bullets that redefine precision.

Another extreme about these rifles is the price. Here are a few other things you should buy (or at least dig out) before you get serious about looking at a CheyTac M200 for sale.

  • Hearing protection: Let alone the fact that most ranges will throw you off the firing line if you don’t have hearing protection, this is not a time for machismo. The CheyTac M200 intervention is no rimfire, and with rifles like this, it’s the muzzle blast that gets you, not the recoil. Don’t go anywhere near one without solid hearing protection.
  • Ammo: The one downside of shooting a platform like this is the exclusiveness (and the price) of the ammo. Like other extreme long-range cartridges like .50 BMG and .338 Lapua, ammo for an M200 is expensive and unlike those other two, much harder to find. Chances are, the seller of the rifle also sells ammo – make sure you get some (or at least know where you can) before you buy. It’s no fun having a new rifle in the safe but knowing you can’t go to the range just because you can’t find a shop that has ammo.
  • A spotting scope: At the ranges at which you will be using a rifle like this, you’ll need a good spotting scope just to see where your shots are landing. Two things to look for: a wide aperture and a good magnification setting (or variable magnification). The wider the aperture, the more light the scope will let in and therefore the sharper the image will be. Magnification speaks for itself.
  • A good optic: On the same note, this is not the sort of rifle that you shoot over iron sights. In fact, the M200 Intervention doesn’t even have It is scope-ready, and for your part in this, don’t cheap out. You will want to buy the highest quality scope you can for a rifle like this.

What Don’t You Need to Get

Now that you know four other things you’ll want to get with an extreme long-range rifle like a CheyTac M200, here are 3 things you fortunately will not need to buy.

  • A muzzle brake: You would need to buy a muzzle brake for an M200 Intervention, if the rifle didn’t come with one. Fortunately, it does, so you’re set there, and even more fortunately, the supplied brake can considerably counteract felt recoil. Now you just need to worry about the muzzle blast.
  • A case (assuming you buy it from the right place): If you get the CheyTac M200 from the right seller, it will come with a case, so you won’t need to shell out extra for that.
  • A bipod: Lastly, the design of the chassis on which the M200 is built has stabilizers built in that sort of convert it into a tripod, which, all else being equal, is better than a bipod anyway. So that’s one more thing you don’t need to buy.

The Differences Between Direct Gas Impingement and Zenith Firearms’ MRDS Platform’s Roller-Delayed Blowback

The vast majority of AR style rifles, including AR pistols, or ARPs, are actuated by an operation known as direct gas impingement.
