Project X Golf Shafts: Breaking Down the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Line

Project X golf shafts, specifically Project X HZRDUS Smoke shafts, are among the most popular in the sport right now.

But what’s with the hype, and with so many Project X HZRDUS Smoke shafts to choose one, how can you ensure the object of your interest is really well suited for you?

Let’s start with some basics.

Project X Golf Shafts: Which HZRDUS Smoke, and Why?
First off, if you’re really not familiar with the HZRDUS Smoke line, you should know this: there are a whole bunch of them and they are labeled according to color.

Some of them are also called “Smoke RDX” shafts. But what’s the difference between them?

Smoke Black
Among the most popular of all Project X golf shafts, the Smoke Black is optimized for players with hyper-aggressive swing speeds and tempos.

However, it doesn’t compromise on feel or sensitivity and features a counterbalanced design that adds mass toward the club head, increasing ball speed and MOI.

Smoke Black RDX
The Smoke Black RDX is a lot like the Smoke Black but is specifically engineered for players with high swing speeds and tempos, but want a low launch and low spin profile, with stiff butt and midsections but a softer tip section.

Smoke Yellow
The Smoke Yellow, like the Smoke Black, features a low-launch, low-spin design that is also counterbalanced to add mass to the club head, boosting ball speed and MOI for higher forgiveness.

Smoke Green
The Smoke Green is the stiffest in this entire line of Project X golf shafts, and is optimized for exceptional stability, to offer uncompromising performance for players with the fastest, most aggressive swing speeds and tempos.

Smoke Red RDX
Even among Project X Smoke RDX shafts, the Red RDX provides the highest launch and spin characteristics of all.

It’s available in 4 flex ratings and, despite its high-launch, high-spin profile, is suitable for players with lower as well as mid-range swing speeds and tempos.

Green RDX
The Green RDX is the stiffest and lowest-launching of the RDX shafts. It also produces low-spin characteristics.

This one is also counterbalanced which adds mass towards the club head, which improves energy transfer, ball speed, and MOI for added forgiveness.

Smoke Blue RDX
The Smoke Blue RDX is a unique one, with a unique bend profile that is dynamic and responds actively to the player.

Project X calls this “player optimization”; these shafts are also made with HexCel’s HexTow carbon fiber that improves strength and sensitivity, and these Project X golf shafts are made with a counterbalanced design, stiff butts and tips, and softer midsections that improve not only stability but sensitivity.
